We believe that innovation from creative minds will be essential in crafting a better future for the next generation. Our organization is turning this belief into a reality by cultivating these minds through access and representation—providing access to STEM and entrepreneurship education while showcasing the forward-thinking individuals and teams who have shaped and continue to shape these fields. At STEM Kings & Queens, we design science, technology, engineering, math, and entrepreneurship workshops for K-12 students in the context of their real-world applications, while highlighting the impactful contributions of professionals in these fields. Our work at STEM Kings & Queens serves as a primary point of access as well as representation to guide and empower our students, while embracing their unique sense of creativity. Ultimately, our mission is to increase interest and sustained participation in STEM and entrepreneurship, encouraging students to pursue these fields and drive future innovation.
Our Founder
STEM Kings & Queens was founded in 2019 by Kayla Miller, an education entrepreneur from New York. After graduating with a degree in Biomolecular Sciences, she recognized her passion for encouraging students to pursue their STEM and entrepreneurship curiosities. Reflecting on her own journey, she identified the significant experiences that shaped her path and the ones she missed that could have made a bigger impact. A few key moments in STEM and entrepreneurship classes during her K-12 years ignited her passion, ultimately leading to her STEM degree and entrepreneurial pursuits. However, what would have made a real difference was the opportunity to learn directly from professionals and entrepreneurs in the field. Inspired by this realization, she set out to reverse engineer her own journey and create opportunities for the next generation. STEM Kings & Queens was created as a response to these observations, offering real-world, hands-on STEM and entrepreneurship workshops, where K-12 students can engage directly with professionals, and gain the knowledge and inspiration to chart their own paths.
